Odawara Castle Chrysanthemum exhibition was held in Odawara Castle Park from 3 to 15 November. Exhibition included many kinds of chrysanthemum protected by special booths, including large chrysanthemum, bonsai and spray chrysanthemum.
I came to the Odawara Castle Park at the last day of exhibition, then a few flowers started to fade, but fortunately, most of them were still in a great condition. Before watching the exhibition, I have seen only large-blossomed chrysanthemum of ball shape. In fact, there are many various types of chrysanthemum, that I haven’t ever seen before. Ones of the most beautiful are spray chrysantemum, that have narrower petals than traditional, large chrysantemum. Except of them, exhibit included tubular-petaled chrysanthemum (fruit), bonsai, cut flowers, reference flower (including yokiku, classic chrysanthemum) and pocket paper synthesis flower bed, that was made by junior high student. However, my favourite part was bonsai exhibition. Delicate, litlle flowers of short bonsai bushes were really adorable!
People, who haven’t seen yet Odawara Castle, should use the opportunity of chrysanthemum exhibition and come to the Castle Tower and buildings around there. In the restored Odawara Castle Tower there is large historical exhibition. A full view of Sagami Bay can be observed from the top floor of the tower. During the autumn, park is full of colorful leafs and it’s really worth walking around.
Summary Odawara Castle Chrysanthemum exhibition is really great chance to visit the Odawara Castle and taking some rest during the nice walk around the other facilities, like a shinto shrine, that you can see in the picture. If you are planning trip to the Odawara in November, let’s come to see the blooming chrysanthemum! Weronika Golubska
