Kyu-Furukawa Gardens where roses are in full glory

I get off Komagome Station by JR Yamanote Line and arrive at Kyu-Furukawa Garden to the right in Hongo Street of the station square in from 15 to 20 on foot. This garden is one of 9 Tokyo Metropolitan cultural assets gardens, and, as for from May to June, roses blooming in the Western-style garden in the garden are wonderful. At this time, "a spring rose festival" is held, and, in a light up and the concert in the garden, the event mainly on the rose including the popularity vote of the rose, there are many guests.
I can watch the times of the Taisho era when Japanese style harmonized if the garden is Western-style, and, around Kyu-(old) Furukawa's house, a Japanese-Western style garden is made.
The old Furukawa's house asks Josiah Conder ( a U.K.-born architect and built Rokumei-kan and Iwasaki's house, Mitsui club, the Nicolai temple and is called "father of the Japan modern architecture") for construction as this residence of Toranosuke Furukawa in 1917 and is a residence built in the Munemitsu Mutsu's house ruins. The outer wall of the residence is loaded with the cut stone of a dark red Shin-Komatsu-stone, and, in the roof, it becomes a British cottage-like design in natural slating. The building inside is a layout for the first floor to meet a guest of honor with a Western-style building. There are a drawing room and a dining hall, billiards in the put amusement rooms six in total, and the mantelpiece of the fireplace is comprised in which room. The second floor becomes the place of the life of the family and is made of Japanese-style buildings. There are Buddhist altar room with a tatami mat floor and the parlor where 12 tatamis and 15 tatamis affect ,a bedroom, a bathroom there. Unfortunately because the photography is prohibited in the room, I cannot show the photograph, but it becomes the interior decoration that luxury of the Taisho era had nothing left. In addition, the visit in the residence is possible three times a day, but a reservation is basic. You can look on that day if a space is for the reservation (visit charges: 800 yen).
The garden has the large Japanese garden other than the Western-style garden with the rosary. The center of the Japanese garden in Shinji-ike (the pond where form took the style of handwriting of "心" (Shin), Karetaki (the waterfall which expressed the scene of the hills and rivers without using the water) or Otaki where water falls into from the high place of 10m are arranged around , there is also the tea-ceremony room in the garden, and can suffer the powdered green tea, too.

"Rikugi-en Garden" of Waka

There is "Rikugi-en Garden" which is one of 9 Tokyo Metropolitan cultural assets gardens when I go the Hongo Street in front of Komagome Station to the left for from five to ten on foot. In Rikugi-en Garden, Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa which was a secretary of 5s general, Tsunayoshi Tokugawa of the Edo era did a garden old in 1702, is excellent garden of "excursion-type Tsukiyama artificial pond" based on the hobby of Waka (the 31-syllable Japanese poem). A walk road is made in a garden around a pond, and a natural beauty spot composed a Waka on, a Chinese classic scene are pictured. Because the big tree of a famous drooping cherry tree is planted in the entrance of the garden, many tourists arrive at the time of the cherry tree. In addition, for the highlight in the garden, a scene of the Fujishiro Pass where an azalea, the mountain stream which flows through the side of the arbor, Takimi-chaya (teahouse) which gives an atmosphere of being deep in the mountains, Togetsu-kyo bridge of two pieces of big rocks, Tsukiyama in Nakanoshima,The Tsutsuji-cyaya teahouse where a blue maple glistens with spring sunlight is a wonderful garden.
