Have you ever been in Machida? This city is probably not the first destination tourists would think of when they travel to Tokyo, but there are some interesting parks, theme parks, gardens, temples, and other locations which are definitely worth the time to visit.
I would like to introduce one of them.

Serigaya park is located in Machida. It takes about 10-15 minutes walk from Machida station which is itself a great place with all the shops, cafes, and restaurants.
It is just like a smaller version of central Shibuya, or Shinjuku.

I have been to this park a lot of times, and I've never been disappointed with it.
Even if it’s autumn, winter, spring, or summer there is always something amazing, and breathtaking the park provides for the visitors. My favorites are definitely Sakura (cherry blossom) in March-April, Higanbana (Red Spider Lily) in September, and Momiji (Japanese Maple) in October-November-December. The park also has events according to the seasons, and one of the most interesting is the Jidai Festival "Festival of the Ages" which is a traditional parade based on the Japanese history. In this event people are dressed in traditional Japanese clothes, doing Japanese archery while riding horses and other amusing things. The festival is held every year in October.

I definitely recommend this place, especially because this park is a little bit different than the usual ones you see in Tokyo which you’ll experience once you decide to visit.
This park is kind of an abandoned one. The place maintainers are focused on the natural vibes instead of the “perfectly cut grass”, or “nicely arranged plants“ they let the nature spread itself, and grow the plants naturally. This is the reason why Serigaya park is one of my favorites.

The place is huge, and there are several entrances of the park, so it’s easy to approach, and every area has it’s own sights. There are waterfalls, lakes, small rivers, gardens, some massive statues, and the city museum. The museum is mainly focused on graphic arts like paintings, and printings. The current main exhibition is the “UKIYO-E MODERN Shinsui's Beauty! Hasui's Landscape!” which can be viewed until June 17. The museum provide gallery tours in English for free of charge. Some of the upcoming exhibitions:
“Reproduction/Originality on Printmaking” Wednesday 11 AprilーSunday June 17,
““Print Kingdom” Masters of Prints are here!” Saturday 30 JuneーSunday September 2,
““Imprint” MACHIDA 2018 -Araki Tamana- Spinning cocoon memories” Saturday 30 JuneーSunday September 2.

It’s also a great opportunity to spend some quality time with not only your family, children, or friends, but your pets as the park is pet friendly, and has several playgrounds for the kids, and sports area for those who would play tennis, football, or other activities. There is also a giant “waterfall statue” with a mini pool which is often used to play, and cool down by kids in the summer.

The other thing I really like in this place is that it’s almost never overcrowded. If there isn’t a festival then you can count on some quite relaxing time with only a few visitors, or even alone.
