In Japan, the weather begins to cool down and autumn begins soon. Fortunately, the crazy heat is over, and I can not wait to see the beautiful changes that autumn brings to Japan.
Personally, I like to have much more outdoor programs in this season than in the summer, and one of my favorite place to visit is Ōmori Furusato-no-Hamabe Park (大森ふるさとの浜辺公園). The Ōmori Furusato-no-Hamabe Park (大森ふるさとの浜辺公園) is located in Ota Ward, about 10 minutes walk from Omorimachi station. It is one of the most beautiful artificial beach (and park) in Tokyo.
The Ōmori Furusato-no-Hamabe Park is known only among locals, so there is not a big chance to meet tourists, and usually, there are only a few visitors. This park is popular among elderly and young people, I often see elderly people doing daily dog walking, and training. Since the park with the small beach has a breathtaking view it is a perfect place for a morning run.
It is also a great place to spend some quality time with your family, and friends.
Swimming and fishing are not allowed, but the park is pet-friendly and free.
Besides the great location, amazing view, and the silent, relaxing atmosphere there is a small food both where you can get several kinds of Japanese foods, and snacks. End of the summer, and the beginning of autumn there is some pretty interesting Japanese festival near the park I recommend to visit.
While I was walking around the park I saw several cats living nearby, they were very friendly.
The park is located in a big area, which also has a playground for children, therefore I recommend the park to those who are looking for fun activities with their kids. Nearby the playground there is the Omori Nori Museum (大森海苔のふるさと館) where you can learn about the history of the park and its area. See old photos of the place, and read about how they created the artificial beach. To the Omori Nori Museum (大森海苔のふるさと館) the admission fee is free, and the museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm (except from June to August the opening time is from 9 am to 7 pm) (pay attention to the closing days which is the third Monday (Closed on the following day if the third Monday is a holiday) New Year's Holiday (from December 29 to January 3))
In the Omori Nori Museum, there is a large window where you can look over the white sand beach, and have a great view of the Ōmori Furusato-no-Hamabe Park.
Also, it is a great place to escape from the outside heat, and have a break. Visitors are allowed to eat and drink here. (There is a vending machine.)
